Scott Gorman

Director

Scott is originally from Vermont, USA and received his BA from Yale where he majored in Anthropology. Scott worked at several NGO's in New York and South America before taking the helm at CSA in 2003. Scott oversees operations for all of China, but can always be found in Beijing for the annual CSA snowboarding trip.

Jaede Tan

Managing Director

Prior to joining CSA, Jaede was a Project Manager at a Beijing-based Venture Capital and Asian Investment Platform, Mediaplus Capital, dealing in asset-raising, organic sales and marketing for a range of locally based Chinese businesses ranging from retail, food and beverage, to renewable energy. Before joining Mediaplus Capital, Jaede was a Relationship Manager for Institutional Clients at Atlas Capital, a multi asset-class alternative investment manager with over $4bn of assets under management, based in London. Jaede also co-founded MCS, a boutique hedge fund recruitment specialist based in London. Jaede has a BSc in Economics and Economic History from the University of Bristol.

Ren Yafei

Director of Volunteer Programs

Yaya is from Shanghai where she attended Fudan University and received her BA in Philosophy. Her work experience inlcudes journalism and marketing positions. She currently divides her time between graduate school at Peking University and as director of CSA's Volunteer Programs.

Cathy Chen

Teaching Director

Cathy is originally from Changsha, Hunan Province. She gained a degree in English from Nankai University in Tianjin. Her work experience includes over 5 years as a corporate liaison at a language training center in Beijing. At CSA, Cathy oversees the teaching department, English tutors and partner institutions. She is responsible for ensuring the highest possible standard of Mandarin instruction for student programs. Cathy is fluent in Mandarin and English

Chris Thurlow

Head Program Consultant

Chris is from Rhode Island, USA and attended George Washington University where he graduated with a degree in Psychology. Chris has several years of experience in international development and has worked at NGO's in Senegal, Mozambique, Angola, and China. He moved back to Beijing in 2004 and shortly after joined CSA as our Head Program Consultant. Chris speaks French, Portuguese, English, and Mandarin.

Jane Lu

Program Manager

Jane is from Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province. She graduated from Peili University with a degree in English. Jane previously worked as an English teacher at one of the largest English training centers in Beijing before coming to CSA. Jane serves as our Program Manager for China. Jane is fluent in Mandarin and English.

Tamako

Director Asia-Pacific Students/Event Planner

Tamako hails from Yokohama, Japan. She first came to China to study Chinese and Business at Tianjin University. In 2006 Tamako joined CSA as the director of Asia-Pacific students and also serves as our Event Planner. Tamako is fluent in Mandarin, Japanese, and Spanish.

Jia Jiawei

Director of Online Learning

Jia is originally from Luoyang, Henan Province. She majored in Screenwriting at China Communication University in Beijing. Jia joined CSA in 2006 and manages the online Weekly Lessons program among other duties. Jia is fluent in Mandarin and English.

Zhao Bosheng

Legal Counsel

Zhao is a member of the Democratic National Construction Association and the National Registry Legal Counsel. Zhao Specializes in intellectual property, contracts, labor relations, the listing of enterprises, capital operation and internal control law.
